For the attention of potential collaborators and audiences:
1. I create because I am affected by something, whereby it arrests my thoughts and needs to be expressed. My work is a manifestation of this restless experience.
2. I am driven solely by the call to try and create work that is of some artistic merit and which explores ideas of substance. I am not governed by any need to conform to any paradigms that dictate the form, content and intent of a project.
3. I am an independent creator whose work is an absolute expression of my own individual interests, weltanschauung and gaze. It does not support, and has no obligations to the goals of any group ideologies, movements, or institutions. Any associations with bodies are strictly professional in nature, and are made solely for the purposes of funding, production, and distribution. They are not endorsements in any way, of the interests or ideals of any individual(s) or organisation.
4. My consciousness and imagination are lawless, liberated and limitless. And thus, is my art. I therefore proclaim my unequivocal right to create work on absolutely any subject or human experience that intrigues me.
5. All of my works contain elements that are inspired by the 'personal', defined as being: my observations, experiences, ruminations, feelings, memories, dreams, imaginations and lies.
6. The fundamental responsibility I have, is to myself: I strive to remain faithful to my vision and to create work that is authentic to this vision.
7. I carry no responsibility of audience expectations, or for their responses to my work. How my work is experienced, interpreted or understood is also a purely subjective matter, and a consequence of each individual's own perceptions and ideologies.
8. I deeply respect the audience and their potential. This is why I choose to share that which is personal to me. With this, I offer them the possibility to be active, with space for varieties of sensitivities and intellect to participate with my work. This is done with the hope, that they have the autonomy to feel, introspect and perhaps even arrive at more lucid understandings of themselves, and the worlds they inhabit.
9. I also respect the right of any individual to be offended by my work. They have the freedom to avert their gaze and to stop engaging with it - there is no compulsion in art.
10. The pursuit of trying to understand, explain, or solve the complexities of existence through art, is ultimately futile. My work is merely an attempt to re-present different realities, and to explore the complexities and contradictions contained within them.
